Marton and District CE Primary School

Ofsted Preparation

Su Turner and her improvement toolkit, Shaping Governance were instrumental in the increased confidence and overall improvement for our Governing Board and School, resulting in a GOOD Ofsted judgement in June 2017.

Previously the school had been judged as Requires Improvement and therefore there was much work needed.

By working with Su we predominantly focused on:

• Coaching and working with governors to identify what areas of improvement where needed.

• Developing a robust and effective Rapid Action Plan

• Challenging diversities and enabling all governors to create a shared vision for improvement

• Identifying the tools needed for effective Governance

Su used Shaping Governance with governors and this had a massive impact on securing governors knowledge and the skills needed to challenge school leaders effectively. It also ensured that our governors had the confidence and skills needed to identify areas of improvement, prepare for school inspections, work with staff and actively engage with parents.

As a result we have a school governing board that not only supports; but challenges, are forward thinking and work alongside teaching staff and employees at school sharing the school vision.

Su’s work was instrumental in making this happen and we are proud of the relationship we have with her.

If you are needing to prepare and improve ahead of an Ofsted Inspection I would highly recommend using Shaping Governance, not only does Su have the skills, enthusiasm and knowledge, her character and personal style is that of support and genuine interest.
