Shaping Governance in Local Academy Boards

It's more than training, Shaping Governance literally 'shapes' your governance!

Delivered either as a stand-alone review with a local board or commissioned alongside a MAT review for schools needing more attention.

Shaping Governance can bring immediate impact to local academy boards.  Using our proven improvement tool, we help to improve governor understanding of statutory duties, the school, its pupils, its community, and its challenges. We facilitate better team working across governors and senior leaders in all schools and phases.  Using a tried and tested technique, governors create a collective understanding of what is working well, and where improvements are needed.

Shaping Governance in Local Academy Boards include:

  • A preparation conversation with the HT and Chair, and agreeing a date for the session;
  • A 2.5-hour Shaping Governance self-reflection session focusing on nine areas of governance, what works, what needs improving and assessment of skills across these areas;
  • The identification of governance confidence, and where you may need to undertake further work;
  • A final report, recommendations and action plan, including tips, on where we would start;
  • A four-monthly follow-up conversation to evaluate actions.

'The Shaping Governance framework is very well thought through and provides an excellent means of reflecting on a governing body’s strengths and weaknesses across the core areas of governance. Our reflections during the session were turned into a report, summarising key findings and agreed actions for improvements. The 6 monthly status update meeting with Su and follow up session to come after 12 months are an excellent means of maintaining focus on continuous improvement.  5 🌟Google Review 2021'
