We recruit governors for schools and academies

Here at Shaping Governance, we source potential governors from local businesses and link them to school governor vacancies.

There are three elements to our work in recruiting governors:

Become a School Governor

We work with individuals who want to become governors to help them explore the role and find the right school.

Need a Governor

We work with schools that have governing vacancies to understand their needs and find the right governor for them.

Support Employees and give back

We help employers to support employees to become governors, benefiting both the employee and business.

Governing boards are most effective when they are full, with no vacancies and skilled governors. As a company, we want to support all schools in having the best governing boards, and that is why we help to fill vacancies.

How it works?

Using our five-step process, we will find you the right person for your board.

Step 1: Tell us about your governor vacancy and the skills that you need using the form below;

Step 2: We use our local business connections to identify potential people with an interest in being a governor;

Step 3: We provide governor induction training to ensure that they understand roles, expectations and commitment;

Step 4: We introduce the potential governor to the chair and headteacher, allowing you to assess the suitability of the candidate;

Step 5: If the appointment is approved, we will continue to work with the school and governor to embed good governance

"Trevor Langston, lead for The Pledge said, “Being a school governor is a great opportunity for anyone looking to develop their skills and experience.  Schools also benefit from having employers able to provide an insight into the needs of the local labour market and the skills and qualities that employers look for.  We look forward to working together with Su as we see employers working with schools at governor level as a great opportunity to further help our vision of putting employers at the heart of working with young people.”
